The article presents the documentary sources based research of the issues of origins and development of Principality of Volhynia–Galicia. The role of Prince Roman the Great in the first union of Volhynia and Galicia is considered in the article as well as his own model of the state administration. The second union of these lands by Roman’s son Danylo is explored. The impact of Danylo’s rule for the gathering of the Ukrainian lands into one Principality and later – the Kingdom is considered. The author imaged Danylo’s attempts to stand against the Mongols with the help of the broad population support. Diplomacy of Danylo with the Golden Horde and neighboring European states, his role for the development of the Kingdom and the founding of metropolitan ate in the Volhynia–Galicia state are outlined. The author remarked the great historical impact of the state of Danylo Romanovych. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
