This paper presents some working methods and approaches of the TEI-XML-based critical edition Bibliothek der Neologie (Library of Neology) which aims to provide ten key texts of Neology (as an important part of Enlightenment Theology in the 18th century) by means of a digital edition as well as a monograph. The long-term project, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, is situated at the Seminar für Kirchengeschichte II at the Evangelisch- Theologische Fakultät at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and is supported by the department 'Forschung und Entwicklung' at the Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen. The article describes the phenomenon of quantitative textual variance, especially combined with a so-called 'structural' variance, and shows a possible way to find a solution for handling them in all critically-working digital editions. In addition, it tries to open a scientific discourse concerning this recurrent, but surprisingly disregarded variance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
