The Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the Mid-Arctic Ridge make up the divergent axes. The IYTSZ (Indus-Yarlung-Tsangbo Suture Zone) is part of the southern boundary. However, all is not as it seems by definition. No India-Asia collision ever occurred. The production of new crust at the divergence zones far exceeds convergence zones as an avenue of removal for younger crust; most of the convergence zones are over-riding. Transform faults and crush zones abound. Truly, this is an interesting plate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
