An essay which explored the challenges facing medical anthropology in Australia and Malaysia amidst agendas influencing the interpretation of the impact and engagement of medical anthropological research, is presented. Topics covered include the role of recognition given to the discipline in how well anthropologists can do impactful medical anthropological research, translation of medical anthropological insights to public health practices and opportunities for influencing state policies. |
