In the present work, a statistical approach is proposed for modeling of processes in equipments of enrichment and separation of mineral resources, i.e. when determining a particle location probability, the Gibbs method is used. A set of states of noninteracting particles is taken as a statistical ensemble. Knowing initial conditions, laws of motion and trajectories of noninteracting particles, one can determine a concentration of all possible positions of the particle in the equipment at subsequent moments of time. In a stationary case, a definite time-independent distribution of a density of "possible" particles on a working surface is obtained. According to the Gibbs method, this distribution is identified with the probability distribution of the location of one particle. As an example, the modeling of the processes in an air spiral separator is presented. A developed algorithm of determination of the particle position probability on the working surface of the air separator can be used as an element of a more complex mathematical model, for example, the one where interactions between the particles are taken into account.
