ASSESSMENT OF THE POTABILITY LEVEL OF GROUNDWATER IN THE PETROLEUM PRODUCTS EXTRACTION AREA OF TICLENI-ROMANIA.

Abstrakt: The industrial objectives in which petroleum products are extracted (oil drillings, separating parks, compressor stations, deposits, transport pipelines) are sources of pollution for the soil and groundwater in the area. The specific pollutants in drilling, exploitation and separation of oil and gas for soil, subsoil and aquifer are: petroleum, pond water, detritus and drilling mud. [1] Starting from the fact that the activity in the area of Þicleni - Romania is an activity of exploiting petroleum products, which is associated with the separation of the threephase mixture and with the depositing, storage, distribution and transport activities, it has been proved by field and laboratory studies that this activity is accompanied by harmful effects and significant pollution of soil, subsoil and aquifer, due to pollution with petroleum hydrocarbons, crude oil and salted water. In order to determine the degree of the groundwater pollution in the area of Þicleni - Romania, were collected groundwater samples from the exploitation zone and samples of drinking water from a well and were analyzed the quality indicators specific to the pollutants resulted from the petroleum activity: THP, pH, chlorides, nitrates and conductivity. In order to highlight whether the water extracted from the digged wells in the perimeter studied is within the water drinking parameters, the values obtained were compared with the values allowed by the legislation in force and with the control sample values. [2] The spatial distribution of the hydrocarbons dissolved in the groundwater indicates that hydrocarbons from reservoirs or pipelines leakages migrated vertically to the underground water, then laterally spreaded to the surface of the site through the sand and gravel layer, resulting in values exceeding the limits allowed for pH, THP and nitrate indicators, which leads to the conclusion that the water in the basement of the site can not be extracted for drinking or irrigation of crops purpose.
