Abstrakt:	The article offers a practice parameter on how to conduct a diagnostic ultrasound examination of the extracranial head and neck. The parameter offers information on equipment necessary and details relating to the examination. Brief information on the ALARA (as low as reasonable achievable) principle and its medical application are also provided.
