B DISCUSSION: b Contarini's Syndrome was named after the 95th dodge of Venice, who died presumably of decompensated heart failure and a superimposed pneumonia, leading to bilateral pleural effusions of different origin (2). Most common cause of Contarini's is the development of a transudative effusion secondary to heart failure exacerbation, driven by a preexisting pneumonia and parapneumonic effusion (2). B CONCLUSIONS: b It is important to consider this syndrome when immunocompromised patients present with imaging studies showing different appearances of pleural effusions or if the etiology being considered as the cause of effusion is being treated, however the patient is not improving clinically.
