Electronic Absorption Spectra of Tungsten in Alkali Chloride Based Melts.

Abstrakt: Electronic absorption spectra of chloride melts containing complex chloride ions of tungsten(IV) were recorded at 450-850 °C in the melts based on NaCl-KCl-CsCl and LiCl-KCl eutectic mixtures. Tungsten containing melts were prepared by anodic dissolution of the metal and by oxidation of W by Ru(III) ions. Analysis of the spectra showed that tungsten formed octahedrally coordinated WCl62- ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
