Abstrakt: The article presents a study of C. Iulius Caesar as grammarian, narrator and "exemplum" in the first supine in the poems "Bellum Gallicum" and "Bellum Civile." Topics discussed include the view of readers that Caesar applies his own advice to syntax as well as to word choice, Caesar's use of the first supine, the fourth declension form, derived from the verb stem, which ends in -tum or -sum and Caesar's use of the first supine as an adverbial accusative.
