Abstrakt: The adsorption of Cr6+ from aqueous solution using viable biomass, non-viable biomass, HNO3 and NaOH pretreated biomasses of Humicola phialophoroides fungus as adsorbents was studied. The biomass pretreated with NaOH showed the highest Cr6+ adsorption capabilities, while maximum Cr6+ biosorption of biomass took place in the initial solution at pH more than 8 after 90 minutes. Moreover, the Cr6+ was well adsorbed by NaOH treated biomass at high temperature, and desorption of biomass with 0.1 M HNO3 solution reached 53.74%. Fungus column packed with 15 mL alginate-fungus beads was used to treat 20 mg L-1 of Cr6+ from aqueous solution. Removal efficiency of Cr6+ was 0.99±0.03 mg L-1 for flow rate at 5 mL min-1, while it was 0.52±0.06 mg L-1 for flow rate at 10 mL min-1 with residence time at 15 minutes. Studies have shown that removal efficiency of Cr6+ decreases by increasing the residence time. The bio-filter was successfully eluted using 0.01 M HNO3, with removal efficiency of 31.31% and 32.14% for flow rate at 5 and 10 mL minute-1, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
