The article gives an overview of the sources devoted to the main differences in the experience of loneliness by men and women. Based on the author’s study it is observed that loneliness as a multidimensional phenomenon is accompanied by a different range of feelings based on gender. The link between loneliness and certain personal characteristics, such as low self-esteem and non-tolerant attitude of lonely women to men, and the anxiety and unformity of life goals of single men, is indicated. It is argued that the problem of spiritual loneliness is perceived by men considerably more sharply than by women, especially in the latter adult age. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
