Many studies have shown the significance of task-based language teaching (TBLT) towards English learning outcomes. One of them is students' development of independent learning. This article w ill demonstrate four arguments to support the claim that TBLT promotes independent learning skills particularly English as a foreign language from multiple studies. Firstly, this article will show that TBLT transforms classroom activities from teacher-centeredness into student-centeredness. Secondly, TBLT can facilitate students to develop their cognitive skills. Thirdly, TBLT can foster students' mctacognitivc skills. Finally, TBLT also can increase affective skills. The conclusion of this paper will summarize the key points of this study and recommend some suggestion for future studies of TBLT and independent learning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
