Rural sociologists and demographers with an interest in education will want to obtain a copy of the November-December 1989 special issue of Social Education, guest-edited by George Dailey, Leah Engelbarth, and James Giese. This issue of Social Education also contains short articles on the uses of census data in teaching history, geography the U.S. governmental system and economics. With the rapidly growing use of demographics in marketing, particularly in targeting direct mail advertising, and with the continuing controversies over the state and community impacts of census data, student interest in the subject of the 1990 census will grow throughout the early 1990's. |
