The work is devoted to the study of psychological anthropology as a humanitarian discipline and in the context of humanitarian research. In this article, attention is focused on the concepts of such scholars in this field as D. Matsumoto, E. Pritchard, J. V. Berry, Aip X. Purtinga, M. X. Sigall, since they laid the foundation of modern approaches in this field, determined its main trends, problems and tasks. The representation of these ideas begins with a study of what psychological anthropology is concrete now, where it is represented, which sets itself the task. This becomes a definite justification of the relevance of developments and researches in this field within this work, as well as allows a clearer understanding of the principles of this direction in the writings of the founders. Particular attention in the context of developments in recent years is devoted to the main trends in the Foundation for Psycho–Cultural Research (FPR) and the Society of Psychological Anthropology (SPA) of the American Anthropological Association (AAA).
