In this article the author discusses how by offering structured choice and enlisting students as collaborators she as a English language arts teachers eased the burden of making micro-decisions by sharing the decision-making process with students. Topics include her decision to devote one day per week to independent reading, and using choice in writing as it can empower students to approach their writing more critically. |
