The focus of this paper is the enrichment of solution obtained using finite element method. In Finite Element Method (FEM), results can be improved with the use of two refinement techniques: h-refinement and p-refinement. In h-refinement, number of elements to represent the analytical model is improvised while in p-refinement the degree of the basis functions for the interpolation of field variable and geometry is elevated. In both the cases, entire analysis has to be carried out after changing either mesh or order of interpolation. This process results in increased computational time. Furthermore the earlier results are of no consideration. The proposed methodology involves utilizing the existing results and enriching them through interpolation function. There is no need to carry out the analysis again. To demonstrate the proposed method it is applied to three cases, where it proved to obtain near exact results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
