Abstrakt: In superheater, steam temperature is controlled in a cascade control loop. The cascade control loop consists of PI and PID controllers. To improve the superheater steam temperature control the controller’s gains in a cascade control loop has to be tuned efficiently. The mathematical model of the superheater is derived by sets of nonlinear partial differential equations. The tuning methods taken for study here are designed for delay plus first order transfer function model. Hence from the dynamical model of the superheater, a FOPTD model is derived using frequency response method. Then by using Chien-Hrones-Reswick Tuning Algorithm and Gain-Phase Assignment Algorithm optimum controller gains has been found out based on the least value of integral time weighted absolute error.
