Abstrakt: In the present study, the suitability of phosphate ore slurry as an alternative raw material for limestone or dolomite in wet flue gas desulphurisation by the liquid-phase catalytic oxidation process has been investigated. Effects of the parameters affecting the catalytic oxidation of SO2, e.g. phosphate ore slurry concentration (solid content), temperature, gas flow rate, oxygen content and SO2 concentration were studied. It was observed that the suitable phosphate ore slurry concentration was 50% using the phosphate ore from Kunyang located in Yunnan, China. The reaction temperature was better at lower degree. Lower gas flow rate can make higher removal efficiency but need to keep the slurry in fluidised state at least. Higher oxygen content and lower SO2 concentration was beneficial to the catalytic oxidation process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
