Abstrakt: An editorial is presented which focuses on the efficacy of transcriptional control of O6 methylguanine deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) methyltransferase (MGMT)and development of temozolomide resistance in glioblastoma. Topics discussed include its regulation by two mechanisms including promoter methylation and transcriptional activation; role of cell state transition in cancer stem cells (CSC) in regulating MGMT transcription; and impact of chemosensitivity.
