Abstrakt:	The article provides an overview of the evolution of injection initiation accompanied by renewed focus on prevention by funding bodies and HIV scientists in 2018. It discusses the significant issues associated with the low levels of access which drug-using populations have to several HIV prevention interventions which include opioid substitution therapy. It highlights the need for a prevention strategy which undermine the goals of harm prevention and reduction of injection initiation.
