This article presents the results of research devoted to philosophical reflection on education in the transition path from the mass to the open university. Are allocated meta-principles inherent in open education. An approach to solving the problems of the transformation of the educational process in Russia and the Western countries. Modern universities often pay more attention to quantitative indicators. While the philosophical component of education is neglected. Appeal to the paradigm approach can contribute to the development of the University, to update its essence and substantial component.
