The article focuses on roles played by American actress Scarlett Johansson in the science fiction films "Her," "Under the Skin" and "Lucy," which represented her unique choice of essaying the human/inhuman boundary. It is argued that Johansson's roles in these films have embodied a radical shift challenging the gender norms of cinema, portraying women as empowered from patriarchal control, and transforming feminism. A comparison between the films "Under the Skin" and "Vertigo" is offered. |
