This paper deals with the problems of psychosocial rehabilitation and social recovery of patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders and severe social incompetence lasting throughout their lifetime which defines the classification of these disorders in the group of ‘most highly disabling illnesses’ (up to 40%). New forms of care, proven to be effective, are discussed.
