Abstrakt: Summary Mobile phones represent the most frequent source for potential interference with pacemakers or ICDs. Numerous in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated that mobile phones may interfere with pacemakers, and to a lesser extent with ICDs as well. The type and extent of interference depends on a variety of device variables, patient variables, mobile phone variables and situational variables during the interaction. No case of severe interference or damage of devices has been reported. Mobile phones using the E-net with a higher transmission frequency showed no interferences. Patients with pacemakers or ICDs may use mobile phones without problems if some simple precautions are followed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
