Field experiment was conducted during 2009-10 & 2010-11 at Research Farm of TCB College of Agriculture and Research Station, Bilaspur to assess the suitable rice based cropping system under irrigated, agro-climatic conditions of Chhattisgarh plain. The highest total mean productivity REGY (17.4 t/ha) & net return (Rs. 96.1 & 131.7/ha) were obtained under rice-potato-okra system, which was superior over other cropping sequence examined. Rice -potato- okra and rice-wheat-moong cropping sequences required same amount of water ( 90cm), however, rice-potato-okra had the highest water use efficiency (200.75kg/ha-cm) and most preferable in terms of providing employment with highest employment generation efficiency (105.47%) in comparison to other crop sequences. Rice-wheat-moong cropping sequence showed the highest diversity index of 5.5, whereas lowest value (2.51) recovered with rice-potato-sesame. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
