Abstrakt: The ecological systems theory is one that is well known in social work. Ecology, in the traditional sense, focuses on the organism and its environment and provides a pattern for thinking about human relationships. Human ecology emphasizes the relationships between people and their environments. The ecological perspective contends that life's difficulties may arise from any location in the person's environment, rather than from personal pathology. Focusing on environmental stressors exponentially increases intervention opportunities through impacting levels, layers, and transactions, rather than focusing solely on individual functioning. According to sociologists, the ecosystem's perspective is a conceptual lens that adds to understanding of the various ways a client system may adapt to a changing environment in order to cope, survive, and compete for needed resources. To understand coping and survival in the face of ever changing environmental factors appears particularly important in dealing with such complex issues as caring for refugees.
