This article presents information on several books on economics. The book "Introduction to Production Economics," by John D. Black, marks out an interesting and significant experiment in the teaching of business and economics. The view of the author is that schools of business must stress mainly the problems of production if they are to train men for the actual business of the world, and this book has been developed during the past two years in connection with the first course in economics in the School of Business and the College of Agriculture of the University of Minnesota. Another book "Wealth, Virtual Health and Debt, the Solution of the Economic Paradox," by Frederick Soddy is taken up with definitions and distinctions connecting the nature of wealth, virtual health and debt, and with somewhat harsh accusations directed at professional economists for having obscured the analysis of the situation by confusing wealth and debt. |
