In this article it is described an unusual application of an existing technology that is relatively inexpensive and already in widespread use. It is the proposal of the use of flatbed scanners, normally used to import drawings or plan maps, in this case suggested to scan artefacts or objects, rather than photographing or illustrating them. Here we discuss the scanning methods we have proposed, as well as the advantages and the limitations of using this technology. The paper reports numerous examples of application in various fields documentation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
