Results of experimental investigations on the influence of a distributed injection of a heavy gas into a nearwall sub-layer of a supersonic Mach=2 boundary layer on its laminar-turbulent transition are presented. Hot-wire measurements have been performed with two different flat-plate models, one with tangential and another one with normal (in relation to the surface) injection. It has been shown for the first time experimentally that such an injection shifts the position of transition downstream. This qualitatively confirms the obtained earlier theoretical conclusion on the stabilizing influence of heavy gas injection. The escorting linear stability computations are also presented.
