The authors' previous research showed that in the development of competences of labour protection specialists in adult education programmes, self-assessment is essential to improving knowledge, skills, and a positive attitude. The aim of the study was to evaluate the dynamics of the development of the specialists' labour protection competence in the learning process. The methodological basis of the study included studies, analyses and evaluation of the relevant publications in the context of the competence of the specialists. Also taken into account were the authors' personal reflections and experiences which were gained through working in various Latvian universities. The study's data were obtained from 21 respondents - specialists studying part-time in the programme "Labour protection and occupational safety", and who directly took part in the self-assessment of their learning outcomes. As a result of the study, the occupational safety specialists' competence development model was created and specifies the components and essential characteristics of the competence. The aims of further research are to design a master's degree program in labour protection competence development, and a graphic cognitive model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
