Abstrakt: The article looks at a study which identify the unrecognized thrombotic mechanism triggered by dying platelets and neutrophil macroaggregates that leads to the development of a mixed arterial-venous thrombosis disorder in the lung. Topics discussed include pulmonary neutrophil-rich thrombotic response occurred in humans with the acute respiratory distress syndrome, platelet fragments bridge adjacent neutrophils to facilitate macroaggregation and ischemic gut injury and systemic inflammation.
