Abstrakt: The article discusses a study related to continuous monitoring of the mitochondrial redox state preceding changes in cellular function on the epicardial surface using resonance Raman spectroscopy. Topics include reduction in heme moieties within the electron transport chain with worsening of oxygen deficiency leading to an increase in mitochondrial ratio (3RMR), increase in 3RMR after inferior vena cava occlusion in rodents, and exceeding value predicted subsequent cardiac arrest.
