Cloud interoperability plays a key role in building hybrid clouds. An integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) emerged as a key research area which could help realize how we could build hybrid clouds. iPaaS is a set of capabilities to implement data, application, API and process integration projects spanning cloud resident and on-premises endpoints. The key role of iPaaS is typically integrating applications between multiple endpoints so that they can work together which is a prime aspect of any Enterprise Application Integration scenario. Several cloud experts point out that value in cloud is the management layer, and the rest of the Cross-Cloud strategy comes from it. Cross-Cloud Services strategy is to provide tools which will allow customers to deploy workloads in multiple clouds, connect and manage them on any particular cloud provider. Serverless Computing has also become very popular as it provides a cost-effective way of running workloads in the cloud, so as SDN/NFV in Telco world. In this paper, we look at how can we glue iPaaS and SDN/NFV & serverless computing along with the underlying PaaS/IaaS layers to build and achieve cross-cloud interoperability and chain services together.
