Abstrakt: Objective: To explore the curative effect of treating emotional disorders during peri-menopause with acupuncture for dispersing the liver and regulating menstruation based on the Greene scale. Methods: Eighty women with depression and anxiety during peri-menopause were selected and randomly divided into four groups (group A to group D), and patients in the four groups were treated with paroxetine, Livial, paroxetine + Livial and acupuncture, respectively, for eight weeks. The Greene rating and anxiety factor in all the patients before and after treatment were evaluated; TESS in all patients was also evaluated at the end of the observation period. Results: The four treatments all improved the Greene score and anxiety factor score, and differences between the four treatments were not found to be significant. Compared with group A, the depression factor score of patients in group B was not significantly improved (P < 0.01), the depression factor score of patients in group C and D were superior to that of group A and B (P < 0.01), and the difference between group C and D was not found to be significant. The sex factor score and vascular factor score of patients in groups B, C and D were significantly superior to that of group A (P < 0.01); while the differences between group B, C and D were not found to be significant. Significant differences were found in TESS score between the first three groups and group D, (P < 0.01). Conclusion: In the treatment of this disease, considering the side effects of paroxetine and potential long-term risk of Livial, Cheng's acupuncture approach based on dispersing the liver and regulating menstruation was found to be worth recommending.
