This article evaluates the cardiovascular event rates with hormone therapy in healthy, early postmenopausal women. Despite observational data suggests that hormone therapy decreases risk of coronary heart diseases (CHD) in healthy postmenopausal women, a large randomized controlled trials that evaluates older postmenopausal with or without established CHD, observed an low risk of early events in women taking hormone therapy. In both of these trials, conjugated equine estrogens, medroxyprogesterone acetate were used. |
