This article reports on subconjunctival localization of "Dirofilaria repens." The identification of "Dirofilaria repens" parasite relied on specific microscopic features; low-power magnification of the parasite showed a thick cuticle with external longitudinal ridges and hematoxylin. Dirofilaria repens is transmitted by the mosquito. Identification of the parasite prevents the prescription of potentially toxic microfilaricides. Because the worm is unable to replicate itself in humans, no additional medical treatment is necessary. |
