Despite “mission" being a term that refers to the one-sided transfer of the faith and knowledge scheme of Christianity, the practical approach was essentially based on the communication and exchange of European culture and knowledge. Due to the transfer of culture and knowledge, cultural differences were bypassed while old differences were confirmed and new ones were generated. The report analyzes these complex dynamics of diffusion and simultaneous cementation of old and new differences in the context of transferring knowledgewith the example of the change of the protestant South India mission in the light of the European enlightenment movement of a global registration and classification of nature.
