Abstrakt: Determines whether platelet-activating factor (PAF) induces apoptosis in enterocytes in rat intestinal epithelial cells and delineates the mechanism of action. Testing of the hypothesis that the level PAF-degrading enzyme PAF acetylhydrolase was lower in mucosal samples from distal ileum in Chron's disease patients than in controls; Observation that a faulty regulation of apoptosis plays a role in intestinal mucosal injury.
