Magnetotelluric method is commonly used for geothermal investigation due to its ability to image changes in resistivity distribution from the greater depth. However, the field magnetotelluric data is affected by distribution of geometry and conductivity heterogeneity near the surface. It can distort the magnetotelluric data response. In order to resolve the problem, the phase tensor analysis has been conducted in this paper. Phase tensor analysis has been implemented to "X" geothermal field data. The results show that the dimensionality of the area is closed to 2D from the frequency of 0.5 to 10-2 Hz, and is 3-D for lower frequency. While, the resistivity analysis has shown that the strike direction of the measurement area is N0oE - N18°E, with 90° ambiguity, or N90oE-N108°E. The resistivity increases with the depth and a conductive layer detected on the southern part of the study area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
