Abstrakt: Quilts are called" patchwork" because they are made by patching small pieces of fabric together. In the days of slavery, people on the Underground Railroad may have used quilts to send signals or messages. Every quilt has some message and idea hidden behind the color, pattern and stitches. This article presents some instructions for making a quilt. Cut nine 3-inch squares of fabric, 5 of one color, and 4 of the other. Arrange these nine squares in a checkerboard pattern on top of the 12-inch square of muslin, and glue them in place. This is the top layer. Next, make a" sandwich" with three layers.
