Abstrakt: |
The study investigated factors influencing colours in clothing selection of female adolescents in Ilorin West, Kwara-State, Nigeria. Four research questions were raised. Descriptive research design was used. The total population of 38,534 female adolescents from Ilorin West were recorded. Purposive random sampling technique was used to select 84 from the six selected towns in the three Local Government Areas. Questionnaire was used to solicit information from the respondents. A five point Likert scale of agreed and strongly agreed were used. The data was distributed and collected immediately with the help of research assistant to avoid misplacement and mutilation. The data collected were analyzed using simple statistics such as frequency count, percentage, mean and standard deviation. 3.00 was used as the decision rule. The findings showed that majority of the respondents had formal education, they are single and practiced Islam. Parental factor, peer groups and social media had major influence on the respondents' colours in their clothing selection. It was concluded that respondents should decide how they are going to apply colours of design to achieve their desired-look for specific task effectively no matter the factors that may influence them in their location.
