Work at the Council on Healthcare Systems and Financing during the previous year has continued to focus on the financing of and access to services under U.S. Medicare and Medicaid, including the pharmacy benefit and prospective payment system for inpatient psychiatric services, resolving issues related to managed care and establishing a relationship with decision makers in business and industry regarding insurance coverage. The council has been focused on updating a scan of the health care environment that was originally commissioned by American Psychiatric Association in 1996 and last revised in 1998. |
