Abstrakt: This paper presents heat transfer phenomena in a circular pipe considering a U-loop based on the Finite Element Method. We have investigated the enhancement of heat transfer with mass flow in a circular pipe without insert and with inserts. The rectangular inserts are arranged both horizontally and vertically respectively. The inserts are equally spaced and each of the rectangular box shape strip with length 26 mm and 5mm thick. We run our simulation without insert and combination of two inserts, four inserts, six inserts, eight inserts respectively. The length of the pipe is 1834mm long with 26mm inner and 30mm outer diameter. The simulations are carried out for both stationary and time dependent solutions while total time is considered as 180 seconds. A constant heat flux is taken which generated the boundary layer of the pipe close to the flowing fluid around the boundary layer. From the simulated result it is observed that the transfer of heat increased significantly with the increasing the number of inserts inside the computational domain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
