The article discusses the authors' views about strategies for dealing with a broader definition of conflicts of interest (COIs), and it mentions a researcher's objectivity, research bias, and self-interest. The financial aspects of COIs are examined, along with the U.S. federal Open Payments database which tracks the payments that biomedical corporations make to physicians in America. Physician-patient relations are assessed, as well as an effort to reduce subjective bias in research. |
