The article deals with the proper use of conventional pressure relieve valves (PRVs) discharge coefficients. Topics discussed include the importance of understanding the discharge coefficients for vapor, liquid and two-phase flow, the use of pressure valve to prevent the pressure in a process vessel from exceeding the allowed pressure rating of the vessel, and the method of determining the PRV orifice area. |
