Abstrakt: The article discusses the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Dembitz Brandeis' Jewish identity in relation to an assessment of the impact that Judaism had on his work as an attorney and a judge. According to the article, Brandeis is the first American Jew to sit on the Supreme Court of the U.S. Brandeis' professional commitments to equal justice and the public good are examined, along with Brandeis' upbringing in Louisville, Kentucky and his relationship with his Uncle Lewis Dembitz.
