MINDFULNESS AND EMOTION REGULATION AMONG DOCTORS AND NURSES OF VICTORIA HOSPITAL, BAHAWALPUR, PAKISTAN.

Abstrakt: Objective: To analyze the relationship of mindfulness and emotion regulation among doctors and nurses. Methodology: The descriptive method was applied at Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur in Punjab from 1st August, 2015 to 15th September, 2016 in which data were collected through Mindfulness Awareness and Emotion regulation questionnaires from 80 doctors and 80 nurses of Victoria hospital. Unemployed, trainee doctors and trainee nurses were not included in this study. Research hypotheses were tested with T Test, Mean, Standard Deviation, and Correlation. Results: Mean of mindfulness in doctors and nurses was 64.88 and 65.76, emotional regulation in doctors and nurses was 47.82 and 51.38, reappraisal in doctors and nurses was 29.09 and 30.66, and suppression in doctors and nurses was 18.73 and 20.72. Mean of mindfulness in males and females was 65.10 and 65.45, emotional regulation in males and females was 47.46 and 50.68, reappraisal in males and females was 28.87 and 30.38, and suppression in males and females was 18.60 and 20.31. Mean of mindfulness in rural and urban was 68.22 and 64.00, emotional regulation in males and females was 47.98 and 50.50, reappraisal in males and females was 20.02 and 30.34, and suppression in males and females was 18.96 and 20.16. No significant differences were found in mindfulness and emotion regulation, reappraisal and suppression among low, middle and upper socioeconomic status. Conclusion: Mindfulness, Emotional regulation, reappraisal and suppression are high in nurses as compare to doctors, and are high in female as compare to male. The emotional regulation, reappraisal and suppression are high in urban as compare to rural, but mindfulness is lowing urban as compare to rural. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
