Using intravenous therapy (IV) teams in hospital settings is not a new concept. Within the last 5 years, issue of IV teams was addressed in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) directive that outlined the background information for IV teams and delineated governing policies and procedures. The IV team nurses educate the other staff nurses through IV therapy workshops and inservices on new IV-related devices. An IV team nurse also works with new registered nurses for a day during their orientation. |
