The article focuses on a study of Stefan Felder and Hubert Chanson related to simple design criterion for Residual Energy on Embankment Dam Stepped Spillways. It mentions sensitivity analysis by design engineers can be performed which can be based on the provided mean values and the standard deviation. It also mentions spillway outflow will pass first through the nappe flow during the rising stage of a flood and mentions effects of chute slope on the residual head at the downstream end. |
